With the wonders of the human intellect, we’re now able to get a TV program from the outer reaches of the universe – pretty cool, right?
More Channels, More Time Wasting
Your old TV used to be able to get whatever was able to travel through the cable cord or the antenna. And that wasn’t a lot. But in the beginning of the TV revolution, there weren’t a lot of channels anyway. As people began to realize the money they could make from TV, they began to realize that having more channels was a good thing. With satellite TV, you are no longer bound by the reach of the cables or the reach of TV signals anymore. By having a satellite connection, you can reach out to channels from around the world, helping to connect you to everything in the world – in languages you can’t necessarily understand.
Satellite vs. The Past
The past TV programs were meant to inform people and to entertain them in small doses. Today, people look to television to give them information about everything possible, from what Bret Michaels is doing to what Miley Cyrus’ name is today. Yes, we live in a time of endless opportunities for brain rotting goodness on TV. At the same time, we are also able to get access to news from around the world and we are able to schedule our life around the TV programs we want to watch. We can record the programs we want to see, play them back, and not allow the rigid TV schedule to dictate our life. This is a good thing.
The Problems of Satellite TV
The main trick with the idea of a satellite TV setup is that if you can not get connected to the signal, you will not be able to get the program. And a satellite dish can easily get out of range when there are clouds in the sky or it is shifted just a little bit. Since the sky is never clear every day, it causes you to have interruptions in service. Satellite TV is also much more expensive than you might realize. This is going to cost you big bucks to get all of those channels.
In truth, there is little you can do to stop or slow the progress of satellite TV, even if you wanted to. This is a system that is going to be in place for years to come since we always want to reach out into the world to find the information we need. We want it to come to us in our homes – with the push of a button.
